Take Advantage of Domestic Tourism

While visiting Quinta das Vinhas, Estreito da Calheta, Miguel Albuquerque said that at a time when foreign tourism is practically non-existent, he hopes that his fellow Madeirans will take the opportunity to take a ‘staycation,’ or use the time to explore the island, and stay at places such as  ‘Quinta das Vinhas.’

The president of the government explained that although the airport re-opens on the 1st of July, in a “consolidated and safe” manner, the main markets, such as the United Kingdom and Germany, are still battling against the pandemic, which is currently “Uncontrolled.”  In addition, Portugal is still suffering with the emergence of new outbreaks.  And as such, he hopes that, from September, the tourist industry will resume in the region, with the arrival of more tourists. Until then, he said, we should enjoy the possibilities of domestic tourism. It may not be enough, but it is all we can foresee for the future.
