The anti-racism march scheduled for this morning in the capital, following the death of George Floyd in the United States of America, was cancelled due to threats of violence against the organisers and those attending the event. However, there were those who wanted to make their mark and protest at the original meeting point, next to the church of São Pedro, in Rua das Pretas, Funchal.
The single demonstrator appeared with a sign stating that “Madeira is not the paradise you think it is.” However, he left shortly afterwards, and was later seen wandering along the streets of the capital on his lonely protest.
