A 23-year-old man accused of murdering at 62-year-old man in Caniço on the 7th of May this year also stole the victims car, tablet and used his bank card shortly after the murder.
A note published this morning by the Regional Attorney General of Lisbon, stated that “the man was arrested and presented at the Criminal Investigation Court of Funchal (JIC) for pre-trail proceedings in respect of his involvement in the murder. According to the evidence collected, the defendant killed his victim by using a ‘back key choke AKA rear naked choke.” He was then dragged into the bathroom where his hands were tied behind his back and his face wrapped in clingfilm. The Regional Attorney General of Lisbon also stated that the defendant remains in custody and that the investigation continues under the direction of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruz, of the DIAP of the Comarca de Madeira, with the assistance of the Judiciary Police.
On the 10th of May, the Judiciary Police were called by the deceased persons nephew to the victims house, where he had found the body of his dead uncle.
