Three students from Escola Horácio Bento de Gouveia are promoting a demonstration in Funchal in favour of abortion and women's rights.

The associations, Abraço-delegation of Funchal, APF Madeira, the Portuguese Foundation “A Comunidade Contra a AIDS”, Opus Gay Madeira and the ex aequo network, have organised a vigil in memory of AIDS victims on the 15th of May 2022 at 20:00 in Largo do Município, and participants are asked to bring a candle with them.
Unlike previous years where school groups, parents and family members have visited the Children's Wall of Hope at Largo do Município, to participate in its decoration, this year the attendance has been patchy, while reports have said that the wall is 'timidly composing itself.'
