Two bars were closed and several others were fined for failing to comply with new maximum capacity and social distancing rules over the weekend. This is the third weekend that teams from the Regional Authority Economic Activity (ARAE), including members of the Rapid Response Brigade (BIR) and Public Security Police Criminal Investigation units, have been operating throughout Madeira.

While speaking at the Madeira Days conference, the President of the Regional Parliament, José Manuel Rodrigues, reminded his audience that the effects of the pandemic will have “serious consequences” for the health of the islands population.
