The Raquel Lombardi Association has offered a pressure therapy device, to improve treatment conditions for breast cancer patients at the Machico medical clinic.
In a press release, the association explains that the joint acquisition of the equipment, as well as the protocol established between the Medical Clinic of Machico and the Raquel Lombardi Association, allows breast cancer sufferers to benefit from treatments at the Machico Medical Clinic.
It should be noted that pressotherapy consists of a pneumatic body sleeve comprising of several compartments, which exert pressure on the tissues through air-filling compartments (similar sensation to blood pressure sleeves, except, these squeeze and release), and are an important physiotherapy tool.
Breast cancer is the most prevalent of cancers affecting women in Portugal, confirmed the Raquel Lombardi Association, who stress that physiotherapy “is fundamental in the postoperative period, in restoring the range of motion and muscle strength of the affected upper limb, preventing adhesions and restoring the mobility of both skin and tissues.”
