Portuguese League Against Cancer – Volunteers Needed

The Portuguese League Against Cancer (LPCC), including its Madeira Regional Branch, has launched a campaign to recruit volunteers for this year’s National Collection.

Taking place from the 29th of October to the 1st of November, the four-day fundraiser helps finance the League’s work supporting people with cancer and their families.

Entitled “Connect to the League”, the recruitment campaign particularly hopes to encourage younger people to become involved. Existing volunteers are sharing their experiences through photographs and videos to demonstrate the importance of the annual collection.

The League emphasises that volunteers do not need to make a major time commitment. Anyone who can offer just a few hours during the four days can take part and make a worthwhile contribution.

Money raised through the National Collection supports assistance for cancer patients and their families, as well as cancer prevention, early diagnosis, professional training and oncology research.

The LPCC also offers other volunteering opportunities throughout the year, including community and hospital-based work and mutual-support programmes.

Madeira residents wishing to participate can contact the LPCC’s Madeira Regional Branch or register through the organisation’s website:
