DHL Express will suspend deliveries to the US worth more than $800 (€701.7) due to a “significant increase” in bureaucracy and customs expenses after the introduction of Donald Trump’s new tariff regime.
According to the BBC, the Germany-based delivery company has stated it will temporarily suspend shipments from all countries to American consumers from Monday, the 21st of April, until further notice.
However, the company has confirmed that company-to-company shipments will continue, although there may be delays.
Previously, packages worth up to $2,500 (€2,194) could enter the U.S. with minimal red tape, but due to tighter customs controls, the limit has decreased to $800. DHL says that the change has caused a significant increase in formal customs clearance due to increased bureaucracy. Orders worth less than $800 can still be sent to the U.S. with minimal controls and are not affected by DHL’s decision.
