20% Increase in Supermarket Bills

Madeirans now pay 20% more in grocery bills compared to the same time last year.

According to the Regional Directorate of Statistics (DREM), increases are across the board, especially groceries, however, transport, petrol, and electricity are all showing marked increases. Tobacco and alcoholic beverages have remained roughly the same, and the only surprise is that wine is cheaper.
