The Conservatory – Professional School of the Arts of Madeira has formally dismissed professor Sergey Abakumov, (Contemporary Dance Professor), who was accused of sexual harassment and sexual abuse of minors.
The first complaints were reported last August by local media outlet, JM, which stated that parents and students of the Conservatory were outraged by alleged episodes of sexual harassment. They denounced the teacher, who at the time denied the charges, and even returned to work.
In protest, many families removed their children from the school.
