The North of the Island is Lagging Behind

A recent report highlights the growing difficulties for business owners located in the north of the island.

In a recent investigation, local newspaper, JM, found that many small companies operating within the municipalities of Santana, São Vicente, and Porto Moniz are facing serious difficulties in recruiting staff, with many stating that unemployment benefits and other subsidies are disincentivising people to work.

In turn, they demand more affordable housing as a way of encouraging people to stay and work in the area.
