Local newspaper, JM reported this evening that two tourists are lost in the Santana mountains.
The Regional Relief Operations Command (CROS) has set up a search and rescue operation for the two, including officers from the Volunteer Firefighters of Santana (VHL) Rescue and Mountain Team and Forestry Police.
Apparently, the two tourists decided to walk along the Vereda do Caldeirão Verde, in Santana, and somehow managed to stray from the main route. One of the tourists has called 911, and it is believed that the rescue teams are trying to pinpoint their location via GPS.
