Charity Association, Help to Feed Dogs has issued a statement on its Instagram page stating that a dog was shot by a police officer in Santo Amaro and that they have already asked the Public Security Police to provide an explanation.
The dog, who was hit by one of two bullets went into shock from his wounds, however, he was quickly transported to the Veterinary hospital where his condition is now stable. The incident was immediately reported to the Animal Ombudsman, who are now waiting for witnesses of the shooting to come forward.
Responding, the Ombudsman said that they want to ascertain if the officer was under threat and shot the dog in self-defence.
