Jesuit College Hosts Climate Change Conference

The Regional Secretary for the Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, Susana Prada, together with the UNESCO National Commission, is holding a conference on climate change and cultural and natural heritage tomorrow, the 10th of November at the Jesuit College.

This event is part of a group of World Heritage Network of Portugal activities, which aims to promote an integrated discussion on the impacts of climate change on World Heritage sites, creating ideas and guidelines for good practice, which allow for the identifying and assessment of existing risks and pressures, as well as potential ones, so that effective management measures and actions can be implemented to ensure the conservation and maintenance of local World Heritage sites.

The event will take place in the Auditorium of the Jesuit College, and features an opening message from António Guterres, Secretary General of the UN, as well as addresses from notable national and international speakers, such as Rohit Jigyasu of ICOMOS International, Helena Freitas, University of Porto, and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Senior Advisor, Peter Shadie.
