PAN Queries Pollution Problem at Doca do Cavacas

After hearing the news of the new bathing ban at Doca do Cavacas, the municipal deputy of political party PAN (People-Animals-Nature) Madeira, issued a statement today, in which he questions the Funchal City Council “about the reasons for these recurring sources of pollution in the coastal area of the municipality” and about “the reasons which led to the municipality losing their green ECO flag”.

“Municipalities have powers in terms of inspection, and in this sense it would be very important that they exercise them effectively. PAN Madeira understands that having Funchal should lead the way, and this means having clear clean waters, and a green unpolluted city.”

Concluding the PAN spokesperson believes that “Funchal seems to be nothing but dead ducks and fish decomposing in our rivers and streams, and dirty water which continues to infect and affect our bathing areas and marine life.”
