Social Security Chaos Leads to Delays and Complaints

The atmosphere at the Social Security office in Funchal, was definitely on the tense side today, according to various complaints made to local newspaper, JM.

One complainant, stated that they arrived at 2.00 pm and were only seen at 4.30, and that was only because he complained about the lack of service.  Apparently, they were approached by a security guard stating they had no right to complain. Fed up of the treatment, he ended up asking for the complaints book.

Another member of the public contacted JMFM 88.8, stating that they were still waiting at 5.00 pm to be seen, and that a further 50 people still needed to be attended to.

JM tried to contact the Regional Secretary for Inclusion and Citizenship, who oversees Social Security, to find out the reasons for the delays, but at the time of writing this article, had not received a response.
