Last year, 1,500 cases were filed in the Family Court, most of which were related to non-compliance of paying child support.
Speaking at an initiative promoted by SESARAM, Judge Filipe Câmara said that there are more non-compliances, some parents just find it difficult to pay child support. However, he confirmed, there have been no significant increases in the number of child abuse cases.
The Family and Minors Court has three effective judges, and a request has already been made to expand the number of staff and bring the number to four.
