“Only the dead have seen the end of war.”

— George Santayana, 1922

The Ukrainian community gathered this evening at 7 pm to demonstrate against the Russian attack on their country.

At 8 pm, the leaders of the Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran and Presbyterian Churches in Madeira, will be holding a ‘Prayer for Peace.’ The prayers will be presided over by Bishop Nuno.  This is a way for the Christian churches to respond to the huge uncertainty and anguish those in the Ukraine and around the world are experiencing.

There are currently 328 Ukrainians and 413 Russians residing in Madeira.
