Public Security Police and Judicial Police Make Several Arrests

The Public Security Police (PSP) have been active this past week.

While patrolling the Old Town of Funchal they arrested an 18-year-old drug dealer, who had 170 doses of a psychoactive substance called ‘Gorby Mix.

‘Last Saturday the police also detained a 38-year-old citizen for being in the possession of a prohibited weapon (flick knife), in the centre of Funchal.

While on Sunday, Police officers arrested a man for driving without a licence.  On further investigation, it was  found that the man was wanted, as he was due to serve a 7 month jail sentence, for, driving without a licence!   The man was duly arrested.

However, while it may look like the police were just involved in ‘petty crimes’, the Judicial Police arrested a 29-year-old man who was suspected of raping and robbing two women in Funchal during the early hours of the 2nd of September.

Luckily, the both women were brave enough to report the offence, and since then Judicial Police officers have been active in making a case against the accused.

He will now remain in custody until his trial.
