Search For Missing Polish Man Continues

Yesterday morning, an appeal was posted on the social media network Reddit asking if anyone had seen Michal, a Polish citizen, who has formally been reported missing in Madeira. The message read:

“Michal is missing in Madeira. He went for a walk yesterday afternoon and hasn’t returned yet. The police are looking for him. Krystyna, Michal’s wife.” A further plea asked if anyone had any idea where to look for him to contact the authorities on 291 215 600 or email dic.madeira@pj.pt .

Michal has been missing since Wednesday, and at 8.00 am yesterday morning a search involving 24 operational search and rescue personnel, and 8 vehicles from the Calheta Volunteer Fire Department, Forest Police Corps, Regional Civil Protection Service and the Public Security Police, who provided two binomials (dogs and handlers) and two drones, concentrated their efforts on the mountainous areas to the west of the island.

At 6.00 pm this evening (09/07), 38 search and rescue officers and 12 vehicles from the Voluntary Firefighters of Calheta, the Volunteer Firefighters of São Vicente and Porto Moniz, the Sapadores Firefighters of Funchal, the Forest Police Corps, the Public Security Police, the Republican National Guard and the Regional Service of Civil Protection, including five dogs and their handlers and two drone technicians using drones to try and track and trace the missing man, resumed their search.
