On Saturday the 26th of June, members from the Associação Ajuda Alimentar a Cães rescued a dog that was found chained in terrible conditions, living on moldy bread, no water, and was only alive due to the kindliness of a neighbour, who was feeding it secretly.
Re-named Sorridente, he is, according to his rescuers one of the “calmest and sweetest” dogs they have ever known.
According to the charity’s Facebook page, a ‘godmother’ has already offered to pay for Sorridente’s castration, and he has already been dewormed, microchipped and given his first vaccination.
A second distressing case was found when a bitch and seven puppies were left abandoned. These were collected by a neighbour who then asked the charity to help her. The bitch has been named Pipoca, who is currently nursing her puppies.
If anyone can help with donations of food, or would like to adopt either Sorridente, Pipoca or her puppies, once they are weaned, please contact the association through their Facebook page.
