Data released by the Portuguese Lottery Group, Santa Casa, shows that 1,718 billion euros in gross sales was spent on scratch cards in 2019.
According to ‘Dinheiro Vivo,’ this figure indicates that the Portuguese spend on average €4.7 million per day on instant lottery cards. Furthermore, sales have grown by 7.8% compared to 2018, ensuring that scratch cards now account for 51.1% of the groups total gross sales.
Further information shows that Placard sales reached 634 million euros, 20.3% more than in the previous year. However, Euromillions continues to lose customers. Although sales amounted to €727 million in 2019, this figure is 9.7% lower than 2018.
