More Solidarity Boxes Appear

Volunteers from Funchal have already joined the voluntary movement ‘Caixa Solidária;’ a project which aims to provide essential goods and other items to families experiencing difficulties due to the pandemic.

The motto “leave what you can, take what you need” needs no explaining. Those in need can go to the box and take what they need, while those who want to contribute can place their donated articles in the box.

There are currently two ‘Solidarity Boxes’ in Funchal, one next to the building of the Firefighters Sapadores do Funchal (next to Building 2000), and another near the Madeira Forum, on Rua do Vale da Ajuda (in front of the ‘Kid to Kid’ store).

The idea was created by a group of friends who wanted to take part in a national project, and who wanted to do something to help those in dire circumstances. Their goal is to create a movement where more and more people get involved and participate, whether to replace products or to create more solidarity boxes, in Funchal and throughout the region.
