Contrary to a public statement, the administration of the Oudinot Shopping Centre, Funchal has insisted that all tenants pay 50% rent for this month and May. Initially, said one of the tenants to reporters they were exempt from payment in April and would pay 50% of their rent in May.
The truth is that the shopping centre administration says that this decision is not the result of a legal imposition, but of a collaborative measure which takes into account the the difficulties that shopkeepers and entrepreneurs are experiencing.
So with an economy in free-fall, they think they are doing shopkeepers and entrepreneurs a favour!
