The luxury yacht, Genesia, is currently anchored in the bay of Santa Cruz seeking shelter from forecasted bad weather on its transatlantic route back to Italy. The rebuilt super-yacht is owned by one of the partners of the Rolex group, who, however, is not on board. The yacht won an award in 2018 for the best ‘world transformation.’ It can accommodate ten passengers in six luxurious cabins and carries nine crew members.
Although the Genesia was authorised to take shelter off Santa Cruz, the vessel is forbidden to enter any port, and the crew are prohibited from touching Madeiran soil under the State of Emergency.
