A flight from Lisbon arrived this morning, and following orders issued yesterday by the Regional Government of Madeira, non-residents will be observed and sent to a specific location in Quinta do Lorde, Caniçal to wait out their quarantine period.
In a brief statement, a representative of the regional government said that “This measure is important for us. We are an island. The island cannot be transformed into a refuge for those who want to escape the pandemic.”
As of last night, there were six confirmed coronavirus cases in Madeira.
