Funchal’s public transport company, Horários do Funchal, has decided to ban all tourists from its buses due to the risk of contagion by Covid-19.
In a statement, the company says “In view of the latest measures taken by the Regional Government of Madeira and with immediate effect, all tourists who do not have a Portuguese identification card cannot board any public service operated by Horários do Funchal and Companhia de Carros de São Gonçalo Public Transport. Therefore all citizen cards or residence permits must be shown on request.”
Furthermore, the President of Madeira has asked everyone to stay at home and only travel if it is strictly necessary.
