At 10.05 this morning an earthquake registering 3.5 on the Richter scale was recorded off the south coast of Madeira.
According to the IPMA (Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea), the epicentre of the quake was approximately 35 km southwest of Deserta Grande, had a depth of 9 km and was felt by some of the population.
