Danish Couple Confined to Hotel Room in Madeira

A Danish couple who have contravened every rule issued by the European Contingency System have been quarantined in their hotel room and say they ‘welcome being in isolation.’

This afternoon the Institute of Health Administration (IASAÚDE) said that they are accompanying and monitoring the Danish couple, who will remain in isolation until the 15th of March.

Despite being outside a hospital environment, these two people are under investigation and, for now, they are thought to be non-contagious as they do not have symptoms. However, a source from the Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection says that the couple are considered “high risk, due to having been in contact with an infected person, namely their son.

According to an earlier report, the couple decided to ignore the quarantine rules after a week and travelled to Madeira last Sunday.
