Pingo Doce Employee Forced to Stand

A mainland Pingo Doce employee has claimed that she was forced to stand for hours at the store entrance without being given a specific duty or told why she had to remain in a stationary position.  Responding to a video of the employee which has gone viral on social media platforms, the store’s management has denied the claim.

However, Marisa Ribeiro, coordinator of the Trade and Services Workers Union, reported that “for several months this employee has been harassed by the store manager who does not understand that employees have rights.” Adding that “this situation occurred as the manager was using it as a way of forcing the employee to resign.” Something she has refused to do.

Defending himself, store manager, Manuel Moreira, categorically stated that the “news is not true” and that the employee “is merely trying to make mischief.”
