Similar to Uber, Bolt (formerly known as Taxify) has announced its arrival in Madeira and says that it ‘already has drivers ready to accept bookings.’
In a press release, David Ferreira da Silva, responsible for Bolt Portugal said ‘expanding our presence beyond the continent is an important step for Bolt. By operating in Madeira, we are enabling a more comfortable, fast and safe travel experience for all who live and visit the island. As well as creating new employment/income opportunities for the various drivers working for us.’
Eager to capture the market Bolt not only claims that they offer the lowest prices in the region, but are offering a 50% discount for the first five trips for all new users.
