Pilot Faints En-Route to Madeira

According to Correio da Manhã, a Transavia pilot passed out during a flight from Porto to Funchal on the 3rd of January.   Unfortunately, the co-pilot did not have the necessary certification to land at Cristiano Airport Ronaldo and the plane was forced to return to Porto.

Furthermore, an article in – The Aviation Herald, states that the Transavia flight TO-3450 Porto-Funchal was about 200 metres from the airport when the captain of the aircraft fainted for approximately one minute.  A crew member quickly helped him, and it is believed that the fainting fit was brought on by low blood pressure.

The plane eventually returned and landed in Porto.
