The Associação Ajuda a Alimentar Cães (Aid to Feed Dogs Association) rescued a dog that had been thrown into a levada last night between Campanário and Ribeira Brava.
The dog, which is called ‘Norte’, was unable to move when the team arrived due to its injuries. The animal was subsequently rescued and transported to the Veterinary Hospital of Madeira where veterinarians are trying to save its life.
As such, the Association has asked the population of Madeira to open their hearts and help pay for its veterinary fees. Donations can be made to either the association directly or the Veterinary Hospital.
The association also states that one of the volunteers involved in the rescue mission has offered a monetary award for any information with regards to the dogs’ owners. Any details provided will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
