As the ‘longest and most memorable’ night of the year approaches, Funchal Mayor, Miguel Silva Gouveia confirmed that everything is ready for Market night to be as always, an excellent and resounding success.
Market night, which costs the municipality approximately €40,000, has the usual security measures including police (PSP), fire brigade, Civil Protection, traffic and the Department of the Environment officers. The emergency and civil protection services have been coordinating for weeks in preparation for what will be one of the busiest nights in Funchal, and confirm that everything is in place, ensuring that all Madeirans can safely enjoy themselves.
This year, there will be 96 typical food and drink stands, 10 agricultural product spaces and six toy stalls for youngsters.
In line with new environmental practices reusable cups will be used throughout the night.
