The Regional Public Security Police (PSP) Madeira said that its 24-hour operation involving PSP personnel from three local divisions – Funchal, Câmara do Lobos and Machico had been a success. The operation ran between 07:00 on Friday the 25th to 07:00 on Saturday the 26th October.

Throughout the 24-hours, thirty-three operations of various types were carried out, including road/traffic enforcement, street patrols of Madeira’s most popular areas and criminal investigation. The police’s primary objectives were to ensure that those travelling on public transport, and enjoying the city and town centres were able to do so safely.

Also, the police inspected 340 vehicles, and in total issued forty traffic violation notices.  Three people were also arrested. One for drug trafficking, another for the possession of an illegal weapon and the third was detained after a warrant for his arrest had been issued.
