Earlier this morning a public presentation took place in the Praça do Povo, Funchal as five new electric buses were unveiled. These, along with other new editions, will be used to increase the Horários do Funchal’s existing fleet.
During the presentation, the Vice President of the Regional Government, Pedro Calado, stated that each vehicle cost €250 thousand, making an overall investment of one and a quarter million euros.
The buses will operate two routes within the city of Funchal, where the service will be free until the 25th of September. Please note there are no fixed bus stops; all you have to do is ‘raise your hand to attract the driver’s attention.’
