Strong, gusting winds have affected Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo today. Earlier on this morning an EasyJet plane from Bristol, UK, had to abort its approach; however it managed to land on its second attempt. Another EasyJet flight from London was forced to circle before being able to land.
The Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea ( IPMA) automatic weather station, installed next to the airport control tower, recorded gusts of wind up to 73 km / h, with the average between 10:00 – 11:00 being 42.1 km /h.
