Increased Sales of Berardo Wines

Disgraced businessman, Joe Berardo’s viniculture group, is experiencing an increase in sales and has risen to third place on the Portuguese supermarket shopping list, showing a surprising upsurge despite several high-level appeals to boycott his wine company due to the controversy surrounding his debts, and in particular, his outstanding loans with Caixa Geral de Depósitos.

According to the Nielsen Food Index, Berardo’s group (Bacalhôa, Quinta do Carmo and Aliança) sold 8 million euros worth of 750 ml bottles (representing three-quarters of the market in this category) between July 2018 and June 2019, rising three places in the ranking compared to the previous year.
