The Funchal City Council (CMF), in association with the Division of Youth, Sport and Active Aging, is holding its very popular initiative ‘Active Sundays,’ this weekend, Sunday the 11th of August between 10:00 – 13:00 at the Central Plaza in Funchal.
In a statement the Councilor of Sports for the CMF, João Pedro Vieira said that the event is free and dedicated to all age groups within society. Furthermore, the project aims to promote physical activity with a robust and playful component, which he hopes will encourage people to adopt healthier lifestyles and enjoy a greater quality of life.
This Sunday’s theme is dedicated to table tennis and organised in partnership with the Madeira Table Tennis Association. There will also be several other activities including inflatables, pedal karts and yoga sessions for the whole family between 10:15 – 11:00 and from 11:45 – 12:30.
The project will continue once a month until the end of the year, with: –
Fencing classes taking place on the 29th of September, in partnership with the Madeira Fencing Association.
13th of October, ‘Sitting Volleyball,’ hosted by the Madeira Delegation of the Portuguese Disabled Association.
And finally, on the 10th of November, there will be judo classes provided by the Madeira Judo Association.
