Fundraising to Transport British Tourist Back Home

Oliver Hillier, a British tourist, fell from a second-floor hotel balcony in Praia Formosa on the 22nd of July 2019.  According to a report, the young man fell around 2 am, was found in his underwear, and is still in a critical condition. Ambulance crews were quick to the scene where the unconscious and injured young man was transported to the A&E department of the Dr Nelio Mendonça Hospital.  Having been operated on, doctors have said that Oliver’s head injuries are currently life-threatening. He underwent a second operation on the 3rd of this month and is still in an induced coma.

The young man’s plight has been highlighted on Villa Donna Nadia Facebook page stating that ‘Olivers’ family want to take him home, but the cost of a  medevac flight to the UK will cost in the region of €30,000 euros.

In a passionate plea for help, Oliver’s’ sister Rachael said this on her GOFUNDME page. ‘This is our brother Oliver, he is on a life support machine after having surgery on his brain in Portugal as he fell from a 2nd-floor hotel balcony on the 22nd July 2019 and is now in an induced coma.

We still don’t know how it happened, but the whole family are devastated.

Oliver went on holiday with our mum, nan and his nephew to look after them as my mum is disabled and it’s my nephews first holiday abroad.

There is nothing he wouldn’t do for anyone. He is the glue that holds us all together and to bring him home will cost £30,000! We need him home with us to bring the smile and laughter and light back into our life’s.  We all know it’s going to be a long road to recovery for him, but being in a different country away from his family and friends just doesn’t bear thinking about.

Please help us bring the most important person in our life’s home. We can not live without him.
However much you can spare will be appreciated.’

At this moment, fundraising is underway through GOFUNDME, and approximately £3,930 has been raised.  Desperate to help raise much-needed funds Nádia Filipa Teixeira Nogueira, of Villa Donna Nadia has come forward with a fundraising giveaway. Her Facebook post says…
