Madeira’s Hotel Occupancy Dropped in May

The Hotel Association of Portugal has issued a report showing that although in May this year Madeiras hotel industry had the fourth-highest occupancy rate of 79% throughout Portugal, the figures still represent a 3.7% drop on the same time last year.

Throughout May 2019, the national Occupancy Rate equalled last years percentages, and although slight downward trends for hotel occupancy rates were recorded in Madeira, Estoril, Azores, Aveiro, Beira and Viseu, destinations such as the Costa Azul (83%), Lisbon (90%) and Greater Porto (87%) performed better.

The average price per room (ARR) showed a 3% increase with Revenue Hosting Revenue (RevPar) standing at €59.
