On Sunday 21st of July a 24-year-old woman called Laura was prevented from boarding a Vueling flight in Palma de Mallorca as she was wearing a very low-cut top which looked, according to airline staff more like a swimsuit.
According to a press statement, although several people stepped forward and offered the woman additional clothes to wear, she was sent back to the terminal where she was met by airport police, not because of her décolletage but because of her ‘abusive’ behaviour to cabin crew.
Resorting to social media the woman denounced the situation tweeting ‘Would this situation happen if it were a man wearing a bathing suit? No’ and ‘Are we in Saudi Arabia?’ In response the airline replied to her tweet stating that ‘travel conditions are equal for men and women and are intended to protect the safety of all passengers.’
