300 KG of Litter Removed From Porto Santo Beach

On the 8th of June the Municipality of Porto Santo alongside several local authorities including the AM3 Air Force, Public Security Police, National Republican Guard, Navy and the community collected 300 kg of marine litter from the Pedregal Port.  The rubbish consisted mainly of plastic items, fishing lines, buoys, styrofoam containers and bottles.

The cleanup operation was also part of a schools activity week dedicated to the environment.  In total approximately 90 children took part in the beach cleaning activities, while a further 140 students from primary schools were involved in an environmental awareness initiative ‘Recycle Fair to the Planet Exhibition at the Ecoteca do Porto Santo from the 5th to the 7th of June   The initiative was in collaboration with ARM – Águas e Residuos da Madeira, SA.
