The PSD / Madeira Parliamentary Group has said that the social mobility allowance which enables Madeirans to travel at a cheaper rate by air and by sea has been a success, especially with regards to Porto Santo.
The golden islands economy which was seen to be stagnant due to fluctuations in seasonal travel has revived and year on year more and more people are travelling to the island. Figures show that in 2016, 27,000 residents used the subsidy to travel to Porto Santo, this increased by five thousand in 2019 and a further fourteen thousand in 2018.
This is great news for Porto Santo and its economy.
