Thirty-one dogs and a cat were rescued from a house in Funchal where they have been living in deplorable and life-threatening conditions for over a year. Taking to social media the Associação Ajuda a Alimentar Cães stated that the authorities had known about the animal’s plight for at least a year, but no one had wanted to take charge or responsibility for their situation.
The rescue, was undertaken by members of the Associação Ajuda a Alimentar Cães (AAAC) and assisted by the Public Security Police and firefighters who found the conditions harrowing as the dogs, including puppies were all showing signs of disease and severe malnutrition.
Luckily their rescue means that there is some hope for them as they are now being looked after by the Canil Municipal do Funchal and the AAAC.
If you would like to donate to help both the Associação Ajuda a Alimentar Cães and the Canil Municipal do Funchal in the treatment and on-going care of the dogs and cat, please contact the societies through their Facebook pages.
