Operation ‘Phone Off’ a Success

From the 6th to the 12th of May, the Public Security Police (PSP) carried out 1,348 vehicle inspections in Madeira as part of Operation ‘Phone Off.’

Details released show that 158 drivers were found guilty of  ‘highway code violations.’ The most significant crime was using a mobile phone while driving. Other driving offences included drink driving, not wearing a seat belt, and driving without valid insurance or vehicle inspection certificate.
