This weekend Cáritas volunteers will be collecting food and other essential goods at the Pingo Doce supermarkets located in Madeira and Porto Santo. A total of 400 volunteers will be taking part in a series of roles, including supermarket collection points, transportation and sorting of goods at the charity’s warehouse in Nazaré.
The charity is very close to the Bishop of Funchal, D. Nuno Brás heart, and he has expressed a hope that he will be able to become a part-time volunteer at the La Vie Shopping Centre Pingo Doce this morning.
The charity holds two collection campaigns a year. In November 2018 the charity collected nearly ten tonnes of food and essential products.
