This year’s Flower Festival will be held between the 2nd and 26th of May, while a staggering 1966 people will be taking part in the main parade on Sunday the 5th of May at 4 pm. This year is particularly important as Madeira is celebrating the 600 years of Madeira and Porto Santo. With three weeks of entertainment, there is something for everyone including popular attractions such as static displays, flower carpets, food and flower-themed activities.
In a statement, the Regional Secretary for Tourism, Paula Cabaço confirmed that over 5,000 people were involved in the organisation and that a further €100,000 had been spent to ensure this year’s festival was a memorable event.
Currently, hotel occupancy for the period stands at 90%.
