It has been announced that councils can submit their application for free access to the EU Internet as of midday today.
All municipalities must register through the WiFi4EU portal if they wish to be eligible to receive one of the 3,400 vouchers worth €15,000. The total budget for this EU initiative is €51 million. It appears that the vouchers will be awarded on a first come first served basis, however there is a cap on the number of vouchers any one country can receive. Those that were unsuccessful in the first round of applications organised in November last year are eligible to apply again, providing they confirm both their contact and identification information. This second round of applications close on the 5th of April at 16.00.
Successful applicants will be notified next month.
