Two women prevented a fifty-year-old man from committing suicide the other day after he threatened to throw himself off the Miradouro do Pináculo, São Gonçalo.  The two women, who have remained nameless were walking past the spot and quickly alerted the Public Security Police (PSP) and the Portuguese Red Cross Pre-Hospital Rescue Team (CVP).

The man was initially lying in the road, but on seeing the two ladies ran to the edge of the viewpoint and threatened to jump.   Luckily, through the swift intervention of the police and the Red Cross team, they were able to bring the man back to safety.  He was later taken to Dr Nélio Mendonça Hospital for observation.
